St. Francis Center for Renewal Holds Its First Annual
Star Struck Gala!

The Mission of St. Francis Center for Renewal is to glorify God and
to witness to the Gospel by providing a Christ-centered
environment of
hospitality, caring and love as an oasis of peace and healing for
all God’s people.
On the evening of May 14, 2011, God was certainly glorified in
Bethlehem, PA! For our first Gala, we chose to ‘shine our light’ on
the alumnae of St. Francis Academy. For three decades, Monocacy
Manor was home to hundreds of young women who came to the School
Sisters of St. Francis for their education. St. Francis Academy
opened its doors in 1957 as the first private school for girls in
the newly formed Diocese of Allentown. 2011 marks the 50th
Anniversary of its first graduating class! How fitting that these
women be the first to attend our Gala!
Sisters from Monocacy were joined by those now living in Pittsburgh
and New Jersey. With arms wide open they greeted the 250 Gala
guests. The foyer of Mullen Hall was alive with energy as teacher
greeted student, and classmates reunited after so many years. Smiles
were wide and eyes bright with excitement, as one after another,
young girls, now grown women, came home to the place that had
lovingly prepared them for their future lives. Coming from as far
away as Texas, Florida and California, these women were shining
examples of the care and guidance they had received at St. Francis
Academy.

Also joining in the celebrations were many friends of the Renewal
Center. Faithful retreatants, Knights of Columbus, Serra Club,
members of the Board of Directors for St. Francis Center were all in
attendance. While this first Gala is now over, the generosity and
thoughtfulness it inspired from so many, continues to brighten. As
we strive to be ‘an oasis of peace and healing for all God’s
people,’ we are deeply encouraged by the love and support of the
many who made this evening possible. With much enthusiasm, we look
forward to next year’s Star Struck Gala!
